March 23 Discussion Questions

These are designed for you to customize them to your context. They are great for lunch discussions or in your BridgePoint Church Community Group. Just make sure you do question #7!:

  1. Read John 1:43. What stands out to you about the way Jesus calls Philip? How does this challenge or encourage you in how you think about following Jesus?

  2. Read Romans 3:11–12. This passage says that no one seeks God on their own. Why is it important to recognize that we don’t rescue ourselves spiritually? How does this shape our understanding of evangelism?

  3. Read Luke 5:30–31. Jesus intentionally spent time with those who were considered "outsiders." How does this challenge the way we think about who we should be reaching out to? Who in your life might Jesus be calling you to engage with?

  4. Read John 1:45. Philip immediately goes and tells Nathanael about Jesus. Why do you think new believers often have an urgency to share their faith? What are some obstacles that keep us from doing the same?

  5. Read John 1:46. Nathanael was skeptical, but Philip simply said, "Come and see." How does this approach to evangelism—inviting rather than arguing—resonate with you? How can we use this in our own conversations?

  6. Read John 1:49–51. Nathanael goes from doubt to faith because he encounters Jesus personally. Why is it important to bring people to Jesus instead of just trying to change their behavior or beliefs? How can we better introduce people to Jesus?

  7. Based on what we’ve discussed, what is one action you will take this week to live as a "rescued rescuer"? (Your "I Will" statement)
